Location of the house of Kazimierz Sakowicz
The Polish journalist and publisher Kazimierz Sakowicz (1894–1944) lived in the house that was located here. From July 1941 to November 1943, Mr Sakowicz wrote a secret diary recording the mass killings seen from his home and elsewhere in Paneriai. Today, this diary is one of the most important sources in the history of the Holocaust and other Nazi crimes in Paneriai. There are two known places in Paneriai where Mr Sakowicz lived. This is the location of a house which belonged to Leonardas and Veronika Ciesiuliai, who rented a room to Kazimierz Sakowicz and his wife, Maria. Another house where the Sakowiczs might have lived is preserved at the end of Agrastų street.
